LONDON BRONCOS 28 – 58 SALFORD RED DEVILS

Sunday 4th August 2019.

Niall Evalds’ hat-trick saw him open up a lead in the Betfred Super League top try-scorers list and helped Salford become the first team to score more than 50 points against London Broncos in 2019.

Krisnan Inu, Mark Flanagan, Josh Jones, Tui Lolohea, Kris Welham and Jackson Hastings also scored in the Red Devils’ 10-try-haul.

A quick-fire double from Krisnan Inu and Mark Flanagan put the visitors 12-0 up in the 11th minute.

Josh Jones then extended the lead from close range, before Rhys Williams hit-back for London from an interception.

A Tui Lolohea grubber-kick then put Niall Evalds in for his first try of the afternoon, before Lolohea raced the length of the field to claim a try of his own.

Krisnan Inu eased in to complete his brace and Lolohea continued what had been a 100% record off the tee to give the Red Devils a comfortable lead at half-time.

Half-time: London Broncos 6-36 Salford Red Devils

Salford struck quickly after the break, with Evalds finishing off a Jackson Hastings burst, before Kris Welham celebrated his recent contract extension with a try.

Luke Yates then pulled one back for the Broncos in the 57th minute, but Hastings reasserted Salford’s dominance two minutes later. He dummied and raced through for an individual try which took the Red Devils past the 50-point mark.

Tries from Matty Fleming and Sadiq Adebyi made the scoreline more respectable for the Broncos, before Evalds completed his hat-trick to open up a lead of three in the 2019 Super League top try-scorers table.

The hosts then finished the game with a consolation try from Rob Butler, at the end of a dominant display from the Red Devils.

Salford will look to keep their winning run going at the Armed Forces celebration at the AJ Bell Stadium on Sunday 11 August. Tickets for the event are available HERE.
